My little Fireman!

We had such a great Sunday afernoon. My friend Reggan is married to a firefighter. For years now we have talked about going to see him at the firestation and letting Aidan see the firetruck. For some reason it has just never gotten planned until last Sunday. I am so glad we finally got it scheduled because it was the experience of a lifetime for Aidan! He was so excited he even wore his fireman costume that he had at home. J.J was so awesome to Aidan and so were the other firemen we met, even the captain. We started by getting a tour of the firetruck and getting to explore all the different compartments and stuff. Aidan was able to test out one of the fire extinguishers, and help pull out hoses and everything. While we were seeing all of this the other firefighters were making Aidans favorite lunch for all of us, grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup. We took a break and went and ate lunch with all of them. It was so cool cause they talked to him about getting good grades in school, and safety, and he listened so intently to them. Then we went back downstairs, Aidan took the firepole of course, and got ready to go for a ride in the firetruck. The captain let Aidan have his seat in the truck (the front) and he got to wear the earphones and microhphone so they could talk. Barry and Baylee got to go as well. They went for a little ride and Aidan thought it was awesome when they turned the lights and siren on and everyone pulled over for them. He was smiling from ear to ear when they got back to the station. Then he got to spray the actual firehose and try on J.J.'s uniform. They gave the kids firemen helmets and badges and all sorts of fun things. What a great day we had. Aidan has said for a long time that he wants to be a fireman so I know this was a day he will remember for a long time. Thanks J.J. and Reggan!

Learning that the hoses are a lot heavier than they look!

Trying out one of the extinguishers. He really wishes he had one of these at home for water fights.

Baylee trying out the back seat in the truck.

So funny! This uniform is so heavy and huge on him he could barely stand up. He actually has the pants on as well but they are gathered around his ankles because the suspenders were too longs.

He got to try on the air mask.

Lunch time.

About to go for a ride.

He loved this part of course. The rest of us were a little nervous and had a few close calls but managed to stay dry.

Baylee and Reggan.

Aidan, J.J., and Baylee.

The other firefighters we met too. I wish I remembered their names. They were all so nice and made Aidan feel super special!

That looks so great. I really want to do something like this for my boys-- they both are really into firefighters right now. In fact we play fire fighters everyday.
